A medical representative works in the field — your bag is your office. A well-organized, professional kit tells the doctor you are serious before you say a word. Here is exactly what a fresh MR’s kit should contain.
The Professional Kit — Complete List
The bag itself: A clean, formal laptop-style bag or professional shoulder bag (dark color: black, navy, or brown). No sports backpacks, no torn or faded bags.
Inside the bag:
- Detailing pad / visual aid — the company’s product presentation folder (most important tool)
- Product literature — leave-behind brochures for doctors
- Samples — as per company policy, neatly packed
- Visiting cards — always carry 10–15
- Daily planner / diary — for visit records and doctor notes
- Two good pens — one always fails when you need it
- Small notebook — to note doctor feedback and orders
- Hand sanitizer & tissues — hygiene on the go
- Water bottle — field days are long
- Phone charger / power bank — your reporting tool must stay alive
Weekly check: Every Sunday evening, clean the bag, restock literature and cards, and remove clutter.
Dress Code — Female Medical Representative
- Shalwar kameez in sober, professional colors (white, off-white, light blue, beige) — neatly pressed, every single day.
- Dupatta neatly pinned — professional and comfortable for field work.
- Alternatively, formal coat-pant if your company culture uses it.
- Abaya/hijab (if worn): clean, neat, professional style.
- Avoid: flashy colors, heavy embroidery, noisy bangles, strong perfumes (many clinics are scent-sensitive — keep fragrance very light).
Shoes — Always Polished
- Clean, formal, comfortable shoes — you will stand and walk for hours.
- Polish them the night before, not in the morning rush.
- Heels (if worn): modest height; comfort matters more than style on field days.
- Keep a small shoe-shine sponge in your kit bag for emergencies.
Personal Hygiene — Daily Non-Negotiables
- Bath daily — field work in Pakistani weather demands it.
- Teeth brushed + fresh breath — you talk to doctors face-to-face all day (carry mints).
- Nails — clean, trimmed, neat polish only (no chipped nail paint).
- Hair — neat, tied back, clean.
- Deodorant — light and fresh; avoid heavy perfumes.
- Hands — clean, sanitized before entering clinics.
